Fishing ponds

Featured Replies

Can I pressure my own pond where no one else fishes?  All I throw is one colored senko.

I would say most definitely. Fish that same pond with that same senko enough times, and they'll get to where they won't bite it anymore.

I learned this the hard way with my own neighborhood pond. I can hardly get bites on shallow squarebills now. Always good idea to let a pond rest for days or even sometimes weeks.

There are only 2 ponds (not even lakes) around where I live. These ponds get HAMMERED during the summer, I'm talking 5+ people fishing all day at a small pond, the fish are definitely there, but they dont bite anything. Last time I caught a fish there was on a old sausage from dinner a week before.

The good news for you is..... you have not only new color senko's to throw... you can mix in

-spinnerbaits

-squarebills

-creature baits

-jigs

-swimbaits

I would try and find 1 or 2 other ponds, then rotate to keep the fish guessing and engaged. Cheers.

Turn the Senko into a Neko rig or cut it in half and fish it on a Ned rig jighead

What happened to the worm being the only lure a Bass can't remember? :wiseman: I believe there is some truth to this based on my experience.

there appears to be at least one lure that fish don't remember -- the plastic worm.

``You can catch a bass on a plastic worm one day and he will still come back and hit it the next day,`` Hill said. ``For some reason, the worm doesn`t stimulate the same memory response that other lures do.``

So the answer to your question for me is not really. I fish the same ponds sometimes 3 days in a row now and I have caught the same fish I had caught that same day or one of the previous days. As a kid I fished daily the same ponds almost every day with a 6" Mann's Grape Jelly worm and a Black and Yellow H&H spinnerbait and caught fish repeatedly the whole time I was a kid. These were the only 2 lures available to me way out in the country at the 1 store we had. But I also did this with a Zebco 202 and a rod that by today's standards should not be used for anything related to fishing. So in theory what I did as a kid was impossible using mono and a swivel snap 100% of the time as well.

So maybe in this specific case it might be possible. Like if the pond was the size of a bathtub. I am sure there are exceptions to every rule as there are in all fishing scenarios. But based on my fishing and I do use plastic worms a lot I haven't seen it. :Idontknow:
