Does anyone on here use a tackle backpack? I picked up a normal tackle bag last night cause I hate carrying a tackle box and then I seen tackle backpacks on sale. Part of me says great idea and another part says its a little overkill and would be more of a hindrance but I've never used anything other than a hard box.

You can always use a regular backpack. I use both, depending on where I'm fishing. I have a BPS extreme qualifier which can be a bit cumbersome at times. However it holds a lot of tackle and it is on its third season(which is amazing) When I'm going the less traveled route I use one of my smaller backpacks.

thanks. I have a couple hunting packs but seen the one I linked and its got a lot of storage things specific for tools and what not. I walk several reservoirs that are 2+miles round and several state parks so hitting the trails a lot on there. after buying the normal tackle bag last night and trying it out around the house I see it being a pain hanging off my side but I could get used to it I guess.

I'm retiring a Spider Wire fishing pack.  It's 5 years old and still in great condition less a little hitch in the front panel's zipper.  It holds a ton of tackle, has two rod holders and a well thought out layout.  

 

I don't believe it's USA made, but it's well built.

Do you guys like the rod holder idea? is it bad to tear down and setup rods and reels?

I like it.  I fish one reservoir that's fenced in and hang my bag on it.  The rod holders work well when I change baits.  I also ride my MTB and fish in a local state park.  I break my 2 piece rods down and shortened a couple rod gloves to accept them.  It works great.  As far as is being bad to tear down & set up rods, I'd say it's fine, or else they wouldn't make multi-piece rods.

I've got the cabelas advanced anglers pack and I really like it. Holds three 3600 boxes in a dedicated compartment on the bottom along with room in the top for more. It has good pockets on the sides for snacks and extra line, phone, and whatever else. The waist straps havery small zippered pockets for tools and other small things, I find that pretty handy. It's been a good bag so far. It also came with 5 3600 series boxes.

man thanks for the awesome idea. I gained a lot of weight and used the MTB in the parks and quit cause I got fat. this would help me get back into it and fish longer than walking longer. I will be getting a backpack than. thank you.

does it feel cumbersome? I looked at one in store the other day and i thought man its bigger than my hunting backpacks. LOL.

Somewhat but I balances well so it's not too bad. If it's completely full it's obviously a little more difficult to maneuver in but I find it very comfortable.

Glad I could help.  Just be mindful of how high your rods will stick out above you when you're riding.  I'm in Massachusetts and the single track around here is in the woods.
