Issue with 2016 Antares DC - thoughts?
Sounds like anti reverse isn't functioning properly to me.

Long vs Short Rods?
My experience has been to use what is comfortable and what works for me, rather than spend time worrying about what I should use. My favorite rods for chatter baits and spinner baits are short, fast action, medium heavy bps extremes. One is a 6' the other is 6'6". That goes against all convention of a spinner bait rod but it works perfect for me. My favorite jerk bait set up is an abu promax combo that's medium power, who knows about tip speed, feels fast to me. My advice would be to try out the rods you are interested in if possible. Past that of you have something you use and it performs well, is comfortable, and fits your budget then you have it.

Lews Tournament MB
I've had the same experience with the brakes, never use the mag brakes. It's been a good reel for me. I usually throw spinner baits and chatter baits on mine. The only gripe i have is the sound it makes mid-cast when the spool speed is at its peak, there is a distinct sound from it. I've tried everything to get it to quiet down but now I just don't notice it. I'm certain it's the brake pins rubbing the race inside the reel cover.

all-purpose gear ratio
I use both all the time, but, find myself using the 7.1:1 most of the time.

Abu Garcia Revo Winch Replacement Parts
I have a gen 3 revo winch that was dropped while I was stepping over the tongue of the boat trailer and the front cover plate is now broken. Searching on the Abu Garcia site and they say no results found for the number on the foot or the model number of the reel. Where would be the best place to find replacement parts? Thank you.

Quick Rod Question Guys!!!
Abu garcia veritas winch series. Could probably still find the last generation for a screaming deal right now. I have two for crankbaits, a 7' medium and a 7'6" medium heavy for bigger baits. I think they are the best rods for the money. Just a quick Google search found them from $65 to $100 depending on model.

I'm building an every day tackle box - one that I can carry that can have a good majority of the lures I use. Looking for input!
I never leave home without at least one spinnerbait.

Lews tournament mb braking system
I only use 2 pins on the centrifugal brakes on mine. The mag brake is always at 0.

Loose line on Bait caster reel
It's just a timing thing as to when you crank the reel and pop the lure. Once you get the right cadence down you shouldn't have anymore problems. I went through the same thing when learning to fish jerk baits with a bait caster and my timing was just a little off.

Want to start throwing 1/4oz crankbaits
I throw quarter ounce crankbaits on a 7' winch series any garcia veritas and bps carbonlite reel all day, 12 pound invisx and I never have a problem. I know that's not near the caliber of equipment you are using but it works great for me.

Best Spinning Reel for under $150?
I'd find 50 bucks in the couch, trucks, and anywhere else you stash change and get a stradic. You won't regret it

Bass Tracker / general boat questions
I'm another firm believer in more tow vehicle than is "necessary". One of the trucks I pull my 1986 glastron 175 with is a 2011 Chevy 1500. It has the 6 speed automatic with excellent towing mode, automatic down shifting that is proportional to the amount of brake force. The 5.3 liter v8 has more than enough power. The brakes are good for a lighter duty truck, the transmission tuning helps a lot. The other truck is a 1999 dodge 2500 with the Cummins diesel and a 5 speed manual transmission. It's a baby semi truck so it could care less about pulling the boat around. The stability of having a tow rig that outweighs the load by twice makes so much nicer. The Chevy does great, gets not so good mileage, and is more comfortable than the dodge. I understand living in a city like LA, having a big truck isn't really feasible. I think the Toyota Tacoma is a good suggestion to be somewhere between an outback and a diesel truck that makes 1000 foot pounds of torque. Stopping ability is the biggest variable. This is where a good trailer brake controller comes it to play. It is a necessity as far as I'm concerned, not just for comfort but for your safety and those on the road with you.

5xd and 6xd deep cranking rod opinions.
I use the abu garcia veritas winch 2.0 in 7'6" MH, paired with the revo winch.

Tackle for Cheap
Rapala, strike king, yum, zoom, in no particular order. I love booyah spinnerbaits. The fishing industry isn't unlike any other, you get what you pay for. Spend a couple extra bucks up front and you will have a tackle collection that will last. If you buy the cheapest stuff you can find to save a buck then end up disappointed and frustrated, and replacing the stuff with higher grade equipment later you didn't save anything. My fishing time is my ultimate relaxation time and I don't want to spend it frustrated with junk hooks and spinnerbait skirts that fly off on the cast. The small extra amount up front is absolutely worth it to me.
- Abu Garcia Pro max 3 vs Orra2 SX both 7.1:1

Bladed jig vs spinnerbait
I've had good luck on both but the spinnerbait is my go to.

Cranking a jerkbait?
That's the way I used x raps for about 2 years before I "knew" how they were supposed to be used. Still caught fish.

The Fishing Life?
I operate a power plant and work 14 out of 28 days, no more than 4 shifts in a row. It is shift work, it is 12 hour shift, but the 7 days in a row off at the end of the rotation sure is nice. I use 40 hours of vacation to get two weeks off. It's been an excellent job.

Grandpa's fishing stuff
There's dozens of lures. Has to be 4 decades worth. I am going to build some nice display cases to make some museum like displays with them. I will never part with any of it.

Grandpa's fishing stuff
Thanks for the replies guys. I did find some info on the reel. I never would have guessed it was a fly reel. I thought the hook packs were pretty interesting and thought it would be fun to share.

Grandpa's fishing stuff
Hey guys, we recently lost my grandfather. I was lucky enough to have his fishing equipment. I was looking through an old tackle box and found some items I was interested in finding a date on. Thanks in advance.

Best lipless crank- value vs production
Gotta be between the red eye shad and the original rat-l-trap. I'm sure it's more of a confidence issue than the other lures being sub-par.

Drop Shot Rod? St Croix
I also use an eyecon 6'6" medium light with a 2500 stradic fk. Works great for me, great sensitivity and balance.
