I'm new to the whole tournament scene and had a question.

 

This may be common knowledge and a stupid question but I was looking at doing the Bassmaster northern open either this year or next and was wondering do I need to get a fishing license for the state(s) that I will be fishing the tournament or is that part of the entry fee?

You'll have to purchase a license for that state.

No problem.  Depending on where the Open is, you may need to purchase a Canadian License as well.  I fished one on Erie a few yrs ago and made sure I got one.  You never know if your boater is planning on fishing across the border or not.  If he does, and you don't a have the license, you're kinda screwed.
