Lexa issue/help

Featured Replies

Helping a friend out and figured out issue. The reel will engage mid cast and make a nasty ratcheting sound. The issue is this spring keeps popping out of the divet on the frame. Anyone experience this or know a fix?

One end is longer than the other.  Is it upside down?

Check the thumb bar. If you hold up the reel at eye level is the thumb bar perfectly horizontal to the frame or is it tilting down on one side? If it is tilting down it may not be disengaging fully. Take it out of the reel and bend it carefully until it is horizontal again. Maybe even a little past horizontal the other way for a little pre load.

Okay.  It shouldn't pop out.  The side plate holds it in, when fully assembled.  It WILL pop out when the side plate is removed.

I might make sure the dog ear gear and kick plate work properly.  That has been an issue with some Daiwas, in the past.

I just tried bending the spring end a bit so it's pushing on a slight angle rather than it being straight up and down. Just engaged disengaged it 50+ times, opened it up and it's still in it. Might have solved it. That sure was a anomaly. We'll see what happens after more use.

Lexa 100's engaging mid cast is an issue that's somewhat common. As for why I don't have the answer to that but I've heard of it happening from a few different people. My buddy has 2 that he uses and they'll do it from time to time.

My Lexa 100 did that all the time to the point

it mangled the antireverse pawl.

I did my best to straighten it out and it works

quite well now.

Local guys don't seem to like servicing Daiwa...

JESUS! Really!?! It seems like this spring is too stiff for the action needed. Even with it not in the hole the thumbar still clicks both ways but requires much less effort.
