I caught my personal best largemouth yesterday while Kayak fishing on a lake here in Oklahoma. I was taking the celebratory photos with it, and the hog made a huge jump. I went to grab it, and my new iphone went with the fish overboard in 7-8 foot of water. It was too cold to go overboard to recover it yesterday, but I have the stump marked so I could hopefully return to get it. I'm only 5'3, so it's going to be fairly difficult to swim in and get it. Applecare won't replace it unless I can bring them the water damaged phone. Does anyone have any ideas on getting it back? It's only a few months old, so I'm stuck in contract for at least a year. I really wanted that photo back, and I've heard of iphones surviving lakes for a few days.

That's a good idea. Now, is the iphone 7+ magnetic? It has a slim case on it if that matters.

That's actually my nickname from high school. lol Too d**n bad I've never been scuba diving, Now would probably be a good time to get into it. lol

I grew up a competitive swimmer and so my first instinct is to say man up and get it. However for 99% of the people they probably shouldn't do something like that. I just have zero fear of water in terms of swimming. I've been know to swim and dive down pretty deep for lures.  I'll say this I wouldn't wait to long if u decide to dive. Things like a iPhone is going to get covered in mud or silt fairly fast.

Call a local Scuba school, see if anyone would go get it for fun or a small reward? My uncle dropped some expensive sunglasses into 20' of water one weekend, came back the next with his scuba gear (he lives across the state) and went down and got them. Even in relatively shallow water like you are talking it would be tough to do without being able to stay down there for a few minutes to let the silt die down and be able to see.

A mask and a good pair of freediving fins will be very useful in this situation or know someone who will dive and get the phone for you.

Same here.I have found hundreds of dollars worth of rods,reels,lures,etc while diving.
