Japan Lure Shop "gifts"

Featured Replies

I had a question for those of you who buy stuff from Japan Lure Shop.  I've ordered a couple JDM reels from them in the late winter each of the last 3 years.  Usually they throw in a pack of treble hook guards or some Jika Rig hooks.  I ordered another Metanium MGL last month and they threw in a Megabass FX Knuckle Jr.  I was surprised as that's a pretty nice crankbait. Then, I ordered a Steez last week and they included the nicest spinnerbait I've ever seen - the packaging was in Japanese.  They always write "Thank You" on the inside of the box, and the extra item they include always has "Gift" written on it.

Have any of you guys or gals gotten some pretty sweet 'gift' lures from Japan Lure Shop this spring?

I ordered a rod from American Legacy and they tossed in a piece of Laffy Taffy.  But no custom fees coming from Evansville !  The Japanese in general are very good to deal with. I've ordered from JL and have had great results. I think I've gotten small things like hook bonnets.

I once bought a swimbait from a well-stocked eBay swimbait seller from Japan, and he threw in some candies and stickers.  Unexpected but nice touch, and definitely makes the transaction memorable.

i've received everything from hook bonnets to megabass lures. nice gesture on their part for sure. but then again i've definitely given them more than just pocket change over the years...

Just the treble hook guards too for me.

When I ordered my Met DC from them, they included a nice black n gold lipless crankbait.

Yep. Various jigs and crankbaits. Like opening a cracker jack box with a prize inside.

Not trying to hijack this thread but I am curious about how much the custom fees generally are. I am looking to pick up a few overseas reels and trying to figure out how much more it will be due to fees.

If gotten some pretty nice gifts from them. Most recently I ordered an Aldebaran BFS and they gave me a Megabass Pinkee micro plug. Going to be a fun bait to throw on the BFS. What was the spinnerbait they sent you? They gave me a daiwa spinnerbait once. It was a nice bait. I ordered some O.S.P High Pitcher spinnerbaits from JLS which were very nice.

My first JDM purchase was a Scorpion 1000XT for a little over $200.00 and I got dinged 20 bucks.  No fees since then but as was mentioned rods are apt to get charged because of agreements with UPS and Fed EX.

Thank you for the info -- I really appreciate it.  I am still trying to sort out which reels to go with, but I am liking the looks of the Shimano Scorpion DC.

I got a pretty nice crankbait front them when I bought my zillion sv tws from them. Can't remember the brand though
