I'd be interested to hear why, if you don't mind.

I bought a few last year that I am still working on building.  They are nice blanks but so far for me personally for the price I will buy a point blank rod.  I seem to like their action a little more.

I use them only on request. The offerings are somewhat limited compared to others and I just don't see anything about them to justify the price. I'm sure others think the same about blanks I like.

i was originally interested in the MB 806 HM , at the Batson Booth at the Long beach Fred Hall show they had the blank there and to me it did not have the power in the backbone i was hoping for , so i looked at the other blanks in the rod rack they had there and lo and behold they had an 806 , 807 , & 809 . so i then went up the rack trying different blanks thinking i was gonna find a more powerful blank , went up to the 809 ( which is supposed to be the most powerful ) it felt like a moderate fast medium heavy powered blank , not at all what i was expecting to find , the blank flexed all the way in to the handle section , literally no backbone shutoff . so take this as my opinion only , but i was looking for a heavy powered 8' jig rod and these blanks do not fit my needs at all . i am gonna stick to buying and having rods built on Phenix blanks , just picked up a Ultra MBX 707MH blank at the San Diego Fred hall show yesterday as at their booth they didn't have a 707H blank , the guys from Phenix gave me a good deal on it and i wanted one anyhow , dang Rod Monkey !!!  :D

for anyone looking for a longer lightweight and powerful blank in medium heavy , i'd suggest you take a look at the 707mh , by the way , i weighed the blank when i got home and it weighed 2.35 oz. , pretty good for a 7'7'' blank as powerful as this !!

I'm going to get a Delta model or two to try.

Just ordered the MB703 and MB705 in the delta series. For less than a C note clear across the country to my door I figured what the heck.

It looks like the new deltas are an unsanded version of the IM blanks that NFC make?  I have heard that the IM's are like a more modern GLX blank but I'd have someone with experience with them confirm to be sure.  I do hope so. Personally I have only tried NFC HM blanks but man are they sweet!  I might have to give the deltas a whirl as well. To many rods, not enough time.

The IM graphite is just that, intermediate modulus graphite, this doesn't mean it hasn't been dramatically improved over the years. GLX is not IM material, but that said it was introduced in 1994, you really think it is top of the line material now? Your 1994 boat, car, computer still top of the line?

The NFC HM material is the stuff Gary tried talking G Loomis into going to when it became available. That said none of our graphite are expressly designed for fishing rods, they are all aviation graphites, fishing rods are such a miniscule market share in the graphite industry. The high end graphites will never come from an off shore blank manufacturer. It's trade secret material that is protected technology, so when you hear the pie in the sky claims out there in a cheap rod, or rod blank it's just all sales pitch. There are reasons we still have a US manufacturing market.
