Rapala and Storm

Recommended Posts

Ever since Rapala purchased Storm, there seem to be two different trends:  SOMETIMES they will put their Rapala) name on a bait that clearly looks like a Storm product (i.e., the crankin' Rap) and sometimes they seem to let the "division" remain "autonomous" (retaining the Storm badge).  I'm no businessman but I'd be interested to know what drives their decisions and, really, how well the acquisition is working out for them.  I assume their goal was toward diversification.

Storm also had, not sure if the still have a really good walleye following with the hot n tot and the deep jr thunderstick. In fact for awhile I believe one of the storm brothers created Dave's kaboom lures and had some walleye baits. They were always cheaper, but really solid lures. Pre Rapala I believe their main focus was walleye lures.
