cheap bullet weight question?

Featured Replies

so I found a big box of eagle claw bullet weights in the Walmart clearance and couldn't pass up 10 different sizes for $99ct. I just took them out to put in the trays and noticed some of the holes are larger than the others where the line threads through and some are a little deformed. I have never fished a Texas rig before so wondering will these still work or pitch them and get a better quality?

if its deformed, throw it away. the deformity may cut your line

how about some having very small line holes and some large?

The nose end of lead bullet weights often get pounded closed from vibration of being in a car or boat.  You can open the deformed hole using a 1/16th drill, lead shouldn't abraid or damage your line.

Normally it would happen with smaller size one like 3/16 down on the point end. I use just whatever hook nearby to enlarge the hole.

Yeah just take another hook and  shove it in and open up the hole is what i do.

awesome thanks guys I almost threw them away. some are a little deformed and not a true cone shaped and some the holes are smaller than others. just didn't want to waste time with junk if it was an issue.
