Z-Man Elaztech + Jig Skirt Compatibility ?

Featured Replies

I know not to store Z-man Elaztech baits with other soft plastics - but what about if a Z-man trailer is left on a swim jig with a silicon OR rubber skirt - will it cause the Elaztech material to melt ? ... Your experiences ?

I've kept the Bat Wingz trailer rigged on a silicone skirted jig without any ill effects for weeks on end.

That's what I want to hear ! Once you get say a bat wingz or turbo crawz on a jig head , chatter bait, etc. I would like to leave it there ... Conversely if a skirt has any living rubber mixed in - that might be an issue ?

I don't have any living rubber skirts, but I could certainly see a cause for concern there. I do have some rolls of living rubber, maybe I'll do a test for science to find out.

I leave zman diesel on chatter bait and turbo craw on jig for weeks and don't see any problem.

To be safe , I will only use the Z-Man Bat Wingz and Turbo Crawz on silicone skirted jigs . *Not to get off topic - I just got the Bat Wingz for football jigs and the Turbo Crawz for swim jigs and chatterbaits ... Here's hoping they do really well for me !

I think you'll like them both, but the Bat Wingz has been a really good trailer for me.

I'd like to hear your result.

I found some living rubber that I had stored away.  I left a couple Z-man Elaztech baits on it for about a week.  I assumed nothing would happen, but it looks like the Elaztech does something to the living rubber.  The living rubber was flat, now after a week's contact with Elaztech, there is slight deformity to the living rubber.  See attached photos.

Oh, the elaztech did not melt into a mess.  I do see slight lines (I assume from the living rubber individual strands).
