Hey guys, I was looking for a good rod to pair up with my Abu Garcia black max and I was wondering if this one is any good. i am mostly gonna be throwing topwaters and cranks on this rod. Thanks!

The veritas is a good rod, especially at $69 which is what Cabelas was selling them for the last time I was there. 

They make a good rod, just be aware they fish a bit heavier than stated.  

 

If you want one for topwater and cranks take a serious look at the Veritas Winch series, these are designed with a moderate taper which is better for cranks, traps etc.  The 7 foot medium is the one my friends use for that purpose.

They fish for bass, stripers and even catch snakeheads on them from time to time.  The Potomac is loaded with those darn fish.

Good rods, however the guides have not been so good to me. The epoxy holding the guide to the rod has started peeling on at least one guide on every one of my abu rods. 

But again, they're great rods minus the guide issue. Could also be that I fish them hard or I just got some lemons.
