2 fishermen die on Pickwick Lake

Featured Replies

2 fishermen lost their lives yesterday on Pickwick Lake.

All the reports I have seen just say 'the boat went over the spillway for some reason'.

I don't know if they will ever know what really happened or why.

I understand the lake is at flood stage....they are pulling about 130k cu ft per second.

The BassResource.com road trip started yesterday and runs through Sunday.

Prayers to the families of the men who lost their lives.

Prayers that our members will enjoy a safe trip.

Fish smart and safe everyone.

What a terrible accident.  They must have been in shire terror being drawn to that dam.   God bless them and their families.

Very sad to hear...

As a perspective that amount of water being let out would fill the Empire State Building in four minutes.

Well, although this incident was tragic, the lake is not really dangerous at all unless you do

something stupid.  Accidents happen, but a little bit of common sense goes a long ways in

preventing mishaps. 163K cubic feet persecond is a lot of water, but the flow is controlled

and not all gates are even open. I believe the number at full flow is something around 250K.
