Best baitcaster for small spinners & spoons?

Featured Replies

Looking for advice on best reel for throwing light weight- 1/4-1/2 oz spinners, spoons, weighted worm for trout.

I have numerous spinning reels but am looking for a baitcaster. Already have 5 tatulas but looking for something new.

Best baitcaster under $300?

1/4-1/2 oz. is not all that light.  Most of today's baitcast reels will work with those weights.  Pick your poison.

A couple reels you won't see mentioned (other than by me :teeth: ) are the Okuma Helios Air and Pinnacle Primmus Xi HS.  Both will launch a lure of those weights.  The Primmus is my most trouble free baitcast reel.  So far it has been a true set-and-forget reel.  Better even than my Curados/Chronarchs or 50th Anniversary Zillion.

Pick a reel that interests you.  It will give you more pleasure than if I (or anyone else) picks a reel for you.  :D

My lews lfs will make a decent cast with a weightless senko on a medium heavy rod, with the weights you're looking to use I think you'd be fine with any decent baitcaster.
