Good camping at clear lake CA?

Featured Replies

So my first time to clear lake is coming up fast!! I will be headed to the lake around may 21st and will be staying for several days I will have a small boat a truck and a car I am wondering what the best place would be for my to camp? I will sleep in my truck and my friend is going to stay in a small tent. Closer to the water would be better and I would prefer to have electrical and wifi if possible.. any ideas? I'm trying to do this some what cheap otherwise I would just stay at the casino!!

fisherrw, Clear Lake Cottages would be my other choice if you didn't want to stay at Konocti Vista. Hope you have good fishing and a safe trip. JB

I've only been to CL twice.  Both times I chose Soda Bay since it's midlake and I could fish the whole place without a long drive.  First time was tent camping in February at Edgewater Resort and RV and I could not have been more disappointed. Terrible WiFi, lights cut out in the showers automatically leaving me to shower in the dark, bathroom not heated which meant showering in 36 degree air temps, host not accommodating, terrible parking for boats, etc.  Won't do that again.

Second time was at Clear Lake Vista Resort and I thought it was great.  Excellent dock area with electric at each boat slip. Gas available at the dock if you choose.  Private boat ramp and place to park trailers.  Best of all it was pretty cheap...maybe $60 per night.

State Park. right on the lake. 10 min from town.

Agree with the State Park recommendation. There's a smaller campground right on the water in the Oaks, but I'd much prefer the State Park. Regardless, that should be an amazing time to be there!

I heard the state park is flooded or something is that true?

That's crazy and I hadn't heard that until just now. The most recent article I could find was about 6 weeks old and it sounded like it could be closed until June 1, but it may be worth calling for a first hand update. Their # is (707) 279-2267 if you're still interested (or getting recommendations). Best of luck!
