Are Flipping/Pitching and regular worm weights like in the link below backwards compatible (usable for the same techniques)?

I don't give mine names so when I flip with a worm weight it doesn't get confused!

JK. I don't see any reason you can't use them interchangeably. 

The only difference in the 2 is the so called "flipping weight" has a slightly more pointed end to it..

It's marketing, plain and simple.

I flip and pitch based on the weight I want to use. The shape of the point in your example is meaningless.
