Eagle Claw 7/8" Weighted Oval Balsa Spring Float, comments?

Featured Replies

I guess weight vs non weighted is what Im trying to decide on.  I want to get a nicer bobber vs the regular red/white round floats they sell at Walmart.  Particularly for a 3 year old thats closer to the ground for better visibility.  Seemed like these types of oval weights would be better for kids, casting distance wise too.

They float upright correct (vs lying on their side?).  I think it would be easier for kids to see an upright one.

Anyone used these?  Any reason not to get one?  Thanks.

Weighted bobbers will float upright as well as cast better than unweighted versions. As long as you're not adding a bunch of weight, they'll be your best option.

Guys about rigging floats.  I've always just popped the spring, looped the line around it a couple of times, and popped the spring back.  This keeps the float in place and allows me to set depth.

Now I get that its like a knot thats formed and decreases breaking strength, but this is bass.....  We're not fighting tuna.  I see some people use slip bobbers.  Is that just for fishing deep or other reasons?

Also, Im planning to use the bobber above.  Do they cast well if just spring popped onto the main line (my guess is they will helicopter during casting no?).  Thanks.
