Bass Raider 10e Transom reinforcement?

Featured Replies

Guys, Had the boat out 5 times and using the MK Endura Max 55lb troller on the bow transom. Noticing that there is really not much support on this smaller transom and for that reason I choose not to tow the boat with the motor attached and remove and install it when launching and retrieving. Anybody take measures to reinforce the unit being that it is just a thin plate of aluminum wrapped around the boats plastic?

Trying to preserve this beauty and prevent a larger repair.

Tight lines!!!

A picture would help to know what you are dealing with.  Lacking that, you might be able to sandwich the existing transom between a couple of pieces of plywood.

You are dealing with different forces.  When towing the boat with the motor attached, you are dealing with vertical forces.  When operating it on the boat, you are dealing with the torque. and leverage of the motor on the transom.  My guess would be that the normal leverage of the motor would be more stressful on the hull than the up and down forces when you hit a bump or a pothole in the road.

Your best bet would be to get that info from a dealer, or the manufacturer.

These are pics of the 10e and you can see that that the transom on the bow is smaller and narrower than the stern. Thanks for the reply and I now agree that the torque from operating the motor is more forceful than the vertical force or pressure when towing with the motor attached. That is no longer a worry and makes it easier for me to strap up and go.

Not much info from the manufacturer on this and was wondering if any folks who have had this boat for many years have had to deal with any repairs to the transoms. These boats being plastic pose a different approach than boats made of wood or fiberglass.
