Is using 50lb braided line to heavy for fishing light tackle 

Yes. But let me ask a few questions.

What rod and reel are you going to use?

What "light tackle" lures were you interested in throwing?  Tell us the type of lure and weight.

What kind of water are you fishing. Are you going to be fishing big lakes, rivers, ponds etc?  Is the water clear, deep, off color, shallow, are there lots of grass mats, Lilly pads, or are you fishing around rocks, docks etcd?  All of these help to narrow what you should want to fish.

No bass tackle needs 50 lb test line to catch freshwater LMB. Bass anglers use up to 80 lb test braid on rods that bottom out with 8 lbs of lifting power. So why do we use heavy stronge braid? The answer is in the line diameter, not it's lb test. Larger diameter braid is easier to handle with our fingers without cutting them and pulling down through layers of spooled line on our reels. Heavier braid also offers more abrasion resistance, the line can be damaged and still maintain enough strength to continue fishing with it.

What do you consider "light" tackle? If you're asking is 50lb braid too heavy for dropshotting 4" worms on a Light action rod then yes. But if you want to fish lighter 1/4oz t-rigs in thick cover it might not be. 

"Light Tackle" is very general. I personally throw weightless flukes and senkos on 40# braid with 12# or 15# leader. I have no problems with it.

sorry for the late response work and family very busy but thank you for your opinion 

reel i will be using is a Lew's Speed Spool® LFS Series

rod is a ABU GARCIA VENDETTA CASTING ROD 6'.6"

wait less sickos \ worms with a 1/4 - 1/2 tungsten weights

mostly clear but i would use a fluorocarbon leader and  also some murky water 

and yes big lakes and the lakes i mostly fish have all the above that you listed  

Well my suggestion would be this. I would look at the specs for the line you are thinking of using. If that is Power Pro spectra the 50 pound test would be equal to a line like a 12 pound mono.  It would work but i would prefer  20 or 30 pound Power Pro Spectra. it is still pretty strong but equal to only 6 or 8 pound mono ( diameter wise).
