Bank Fishing in the rain

Featured Replies

Another question for you guys,

If you were going out to fish a highly pressured pond in a steady rain where there is no visible structure and the water is stained what would you throw? Bottom is a combination of rocks and muck.

Hey bigturtle any particular color? I tried a white/chartreuse with absolutely no luck. Should I have gone a darker color?

Try black and blue, colors really are secondary, if it's highly pressured try down sizing, maybe the Ned rig or a drop shot

I would try swimbaits, senkos, and spinnerbaits. I'd use darker colors like greens, browns, blue/black, etc.

But first and foremost, I would make sure there is no lightning present.

Sounds like a pond I fish all the time.  Rain is the best condition.

I've had great luck with buzzbaits in brown and chartreuse even during daytime in the rain.

Could also try a whopper plopper or prop bait, or a larger sized T-rigged craw with big flapping claws dragged on surface.

If not fishing topwater, I've had good success with rattling shallow-running chartreuse squarebills and lipless crankbaits.
