Trout/ Line/ Reel/Lures???
Good afternoon, I’m getting back into fishing and want to start fishing for trout with a spinning reel. I have a couple of questions; What size reel? I have a 200 size pair with a medium moderate rod. What lb test and type of line? Finally, what types of lures do you find works the best? I will be fishing lakes, ponds, and streams. Thanks Gregg

Best Budget Spinner Bait
I fish from the bank and haver NEVER fished a swim bait but want to start. I have no idea what I should be looking for, color, size, that sort of thing. I fish mostly highly pressured lakes and ponds that are stained most of the year. What would you guys recommend? Keep in mind I’m new to this and I am on a tight budget for these. Thanks Gregg

Not sure what my thinking was🤔
Thanks for the replies. Right now I have 1 rod and it’s a 7’ MhF I will be throwing mainly soft plastics, senkos, brush hogs, creature hogs, and assorted worms, that sort of thing. I will also throw on occasion crank baits and have never fished a jig but would like to give that a go. Any suggestions on rod power? Buying 1 tomorrow and the third in a week or two.

Not sure what my thinking was🤔
So in a previous post I stated that I am just getting back into Bass fishing and needed some insight into which baitcaster to buy out of the two I was looking at. I got a lot of good suggestions and insights but one in particular really got me thinking. Zell_pop1 had suggested I buy both, so after thinking about it for sometime I decided he was right and I bought both. Not only did I buy both, a few days later I bought another one, why, I don’t know. Now I have 3 Baitcasters and have no idea what type of line to spool them with. Two of them are 6:2:1 gear ratios while the third is an 8:3:1. As I stated in my previous post I am a bank angler, hoping to get a kayak sometime late summer, early fall. I would greatly appreciate any advice on what I type of line I should spool them with. I will be throwing mostly soft plastics, crank baits, spinner baits, and spoons. I have Yo-Zuri hybrid spooled on one but am willing to go in a different direction altogether, I’m not married to one type of line at this point. Help please! ( I still don’t know what I was thinking buying 3!!)

KVD OR BPS PLATINUM BATCASTER
I have an opportunity to buy either a Lew’s KVD 7:5:1 or BassPro Johnny Morris Platinum 6:8:1 baitcaster, both great prices. I can only buy one, which is better? Thanks

If you only used (1) lb test flouro?
Good evening all, I’ve been away for quite some time due to various reasons and just getting back into the game. I have 1 bait caster and will be using Fluorocarbon as my line. I am 100% a bank angler, if that matters. My bait caster has a 6:2:1 gear ratio and will be used for almost all of my applications. ( I do have a spinning reel I will use for lighter stuff.) Anyway, what lb test would you more experienced anglers use on this? I have used braid in the past and liked it well enough but would like to go with fluoro going forward. Thanks Gregg

Thanks guys, I decided to go with the Daiwa as I’m very familiar with them and really like the brand. Also got a good price on it.

Shimano Scorpion DC7 or Daiwa Tatula CT
Good evening all, I have a question regarding the above mentioned 2 reels. In your opinion how would you rate both , specifically the braking systems? I am very familiar with the magforce Z system and really like it, but I have an opportunity to buy a used ScorpionDC7 at a good price. I have never used a Shimano reel before and don't want to make a mistake in getting a reel that will backlash on me too easily. I would say that as of today with not fishing or practicing casting in over a year and a half, my thumb control is going to need some practice. Thoughts? Thanks

Your usual fishing spot. How far a drive is it?
I live in Columbia Md, and there are 4 "municipal" lakes here. I can walk 300 yards to Lake Elkhorn. Centennial, WildeLake, and Lake Kittamaqundi are all less than 10 min from my house. All are highly pressured and none are what I would call hawg heavens. There are also a slew of ponds nearby. Elkhorn being so close is my main lake, and being a bank fisherman means the Patomac is out for me.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I’m pretty sure the Bait Monkey and the Rig Monkey ? both use Jedi mind tricks! Last week I was sitting in my house minding my own business when out of nowhere this voice keeps repeating “spinner bait, chatter bait, spinner bait, chatter bait.” Next thing I know, I’m online at BassPro ordering 2 willow blade spinner baits, 2 Colorado blade spinner baits, and a chatter bait. Bait monkey must have spoken to Rig monkey because yesterday, I drove out to BassPro (20 min) and purchased a 6’10 MH Fast Veritas Rod. Had to promise my wife that I would not spend anymore house acct money on fishing equipment for a year. Legally am I bound by that promise if I had my fingers crossed??

I need to have my head examined!
I was given a gift card to Bass Pro and decided to spend some of it on a Jackhammer Chatterbait, never having tried one before and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. And seeing how dang expensive they are, I could not justify buying one. It has not arrived yet and I am currently recovering from knee surgery, so I will not be able to use it for awhile. So here is where I need my head examined, I saw a post on Xzones Instagram page of a picture of the Jackhammer in Fire Craw with a Xzone trailer in like color and I had to have it! I fought with myself for a couple of days on the merits of buying a 18.00 bait when I can't even go out and fish it, and when I am able to go out, those days are few and far between. I succumbed to my weakness and went ahead and bought it along with the trailer to match! Please tell me these things are the greatest thing since sliced bread and I will be a fish catching machine with them! ? In all seriousness, for those of you who have used one, what has been your impression? Seriously........AN $18 BAIT! What in the world was I Thinking!!!?
