  1. Wow very generous offer! Not sure when this idea will come to fruition but will keep your offer in mind. Thanks sgain!
  2. Wow! Great stuff. I'm in no hurry to get this started so I may end up waiting. Thanks!
  3. Hey there, I've got this idea of starting a fishing ministry geared towards our churches middle and high schoolers. Looking to purchase 1 or 2 combo sets and need some advice. Funds will come out of my pocket so they are severely limited. I want to get something that will last but not cost an arm and a leg. What would you guys suggest? Do I go spinning combo's, spincast combo, or 1 of each, and what brand would you recommend? Thanks Gregg

I have yet to be in a Walmart where the greeters or other employees are anything like the people you see in their commercials! I'm not sure as far as Walmart goes those people actually exist!
  5. Is anyone familiar with this series? Great looking rods but would like to get some feedback before I purchase one.
  6. Went ahead and bought a Pflueger Supreme. Got a really good deal on it off EBay.
  7. In the next couple weeks I'm going to be buying a spinning reel and looking to spend less than $100 dollars. 2 that I have had my eye on are the Daiwa Bg and the Pflueger President. The BG is close to 60.00 more expensive and not sure I need to go that route again but they are sweet. Any recommendations that I'm not thinking of? Thanks
  8. Very shortly I'm going to be pulling the trigger on a new casting rod. It has come down to the Duckett Ghost or the Dobyns Fury and cannot decide which. I'm ever so slightly leaning towards the ghost only because I'm not a big fan of the color on the Fury. Any thoughts??
  9. Interesting. What is the a b c d designation?
  10. Saw this auction on EBay and immediately thought it was a scam. I'm firmly in the camp of " If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is" but just could not resist. I figure if it is bogus I'm covered by EBay and PayPal. Really hoping it's legit.
  11. A lot of great advice here. I've just recently (last 2 years) gotten serious about Baitcasters. 2 things that have spend up the learning curve for me big time. 1) I moved from a cheaper quality reel to a better quality reel. That right there has made my life sooo much easier! 2) And this is HUGE. Practice away from the water. I go to my local middle school play ground where there are 6 four square courts. Each quart has 4 squares. I stand about 10 yards away from the first court and start working. I throw to a square and donot move to another until my practice plug lands in the square. By doing this I have stopped worrying about distance and more on accuracy. Accuracy comes with proper technique and I now concentrate on technique more than anything else. With my improved technique not only has my accuracy gotten much better so has my distance( without trying harder) I still get a few over runs when I'm not paying attention but they are now fewer in number. Make a game out of your practice and have fun. Good luck and as Jimmy V said" don't give up, don't ever give up!"
  12. Hey there fellow Marylanders. I'm selling 2 Fuego CT Lefthand Retrieve reels. Both are NIB, one is 8:1:1 and the other is a 6:3:1. If they are sold as a pair price is 100.00 If sold separately price is 55.00 ea. I recently purchased a Tatula CT Type R and no longer have a need for the Fuego's. I'm also bank bound and have no need for 3 Baitcasters. I am post pictures upon request. Gregg
  13. I've got a Fuego CT 8:1:1 Brand New I will sell you for 55.00 plus shipping. PM me if interested.LEFTHAND RETRIEVE
  14. Does anyone know if there is a copoly or mono that comes in HiVis colors? My eyes are getting old and I like the hi visibility of some yellow braids as it easier for my to see but would like to spoil one of my Baitcasters with something other than braid.
  15. I read somewhere else that instead of buying the Tatula CT Type R I'd be better off and save money in the process of upgrading Bearings in the Fuego. ???????
  16. So, with what I'm reading and correct me if I'm wrong, I would see no appreciable performance upgrade by going to a Tatula CT Type R? Dont really need one but I sure do like the looks of them. BAIT MONKEY IS BITING ME AGAIN! Sorry forgot to say I have a couple of the Fuego CT's now.
  17. Anyone have any experience with this line? What are your thoughts? Thanks
  18. Afternoon all, curious, is the T-Wing system worthwhile or just a gimmick. Has anyone who owns both systems seen a marked difference? I have 2 Fuego's and might be adding another reel in November and was thinking about the Tatula CT Type R.
  19. Today I had a conversation about spinning reels and baitcasting reels with a coworker. He said he rarely if ever uses a Baitcaster so I asked him why. He basically said that anything he can throw on a Baitcaster he could throw on a spinning outfit but not the other way around. He said he has been using spinning gear for so long that he feels he is just as accurate and gets longer casts than with a Baitcaster, and he never has to worry about back lashing. I thought his comments were interesting but I am leaning just the other way. I'm really starting to like using a Baitcaster but feel as a bank bound Angler I shouldn't give up on my Spinning Reel just yet but am really fighting the urge to do so. Would love to get some of your opinions on this.
  20. DVT, day in and day out what grease do you prefer?
  21. Just read the thread. Thankyou, I now have a much better understanding.
  22. I'm a little confused and need some clarity. I have read on these forums that it's better to use a slower gear ratio reel with Crankbaits than a higher one because you don't get as fatigued. How so? I realize that your bait moves slower with a 5:2:1 ratio than a 7:1:1 but not understanding why there would be less fatigue. Then I recently read where a 6 ratio is better than a 5. Help me out please, what am I missing?
  23. Does anyone use this grease for their reel SUPER LUBE SYNTHETIC GREASE,I'm going to HomeDepo today and thought about picking some up. thanks Gregg
