Advice on new rods - Abu Garcia Veritas

Featured Replies

Good afternoon all,

My wife got me a couple combos and I'm not exactly sure whats the best use for each of them.

Abu Garcia Revo S baitcaster on a Abu Garcia Veritas 6'9" MH rod

Abu Garcia Revo S spinner on a Abu Garcia Veritas 7'0" MH rod

I'm purely a saltwater inshore guy but I want to start freshwater out on Lake O.

What would you use each of these rods for?

The only other bass rod I own is a 7'6" flipping stick for pitching into the pepper grass.

I will probably focus on plastic worms, jigs, lipless crankbaits and topwater.  Trying to keep it simple in the beginning.

I appreciate any advice.

use the 7 footer for topwater, small crank baits.6'9" for traps etc. also can be used for worming, weightless or Texas rigged etc. perfect combos for any type of fishing.you got a nice wife there.

You best take her out for a nice night out!  Abu's Veritas are my favorite rods.  They fish on the heavy side of their rating but load up great.  If both of your rods are fast action, you can use them for almost anything.

I have the 6'9" MH casting rod and use it for mostly soft plastics and light jigs (1/4 oz and up).  Most of my spinning rods are M and ML so I can't help you with your spinning set up.

Best of luck with your new stuff!

Thanks guys. I'll head over to Dick's for some lures now.

I out kicked my coverage with my wife.
