Daughter is moving to Florida

Featured Replies

My daughter and her husband are moving to Port St. Lucy the first of November to start thier new jobs. We are coming down the second week of September to start looking for a place for them to rent. I was wondering to save us a little time if any of you Florida guys could give us some suggestions on some safe areas to start looking in about a 30 mile radius of Port St. Lucy.

More importantly I noticed we will be about an hour from Lake Okeechobee and I would love to fish the lake on one of our trips down there so if anyone could point me in the direction of a guide or if any fellow bassresource member would be willing to take a Virginia boy out on the Big O.

Thank you for any info you guys can provide.

Bass ?  While in Port St. Lucie you gotta go Snook fishing !

Google "Snook Fishing 101" and other videos by the same guy. He has at least one video fishing Port St. Luce.

Note that he is using bass tackle.

Then again, that may be a bad idea as after Snook, bass will never be the same.

I lived there for about 10 years until last year.

Generally most of PSL is pretty good, it all comes down to budget. There are high end areas, and average area's. Tradition up Gatlin Blvd is the high end zone, while west of the river and north of Port Saint Lucie Blvd might be considered lower average. anywhere south of PSL blvd or west of the turnpike or east of the river is pretty good. You can PM me if they have more specific locations they are considering, I can also give some suggestions for bank fishing bass in that area. You can find guides out of Roland Martin Marina or up near city of Okeechobee around Scott driver ramp. Check Okeechobee fishing HQ or Fastbreak in that area they can probably provide guide info.
