Rigging tube baits

Featured Replies

I have been wondering. How do you rig a tube with a jig that has a weed gaurd on it. Sometime ago someone posted a link with pictures of different rigging methods. I didn't take advantage and copy it. Any info would help.

Thanks

I cut a slit in the under side, slip the hook inside the tube, poke a hole in the upperside, reach in and get the weed guard with hemostats and pull it and the hook eye through the hole. If I am preparing them ahead of time at home, I then superglue the slit closed. If I am on the water I just leave it open.

If I have time this pm when I get back from Bass Pro Shop, I will try to post some pics.

Yes sir that is a good idea alright.  I have some small brass tubing that I bought at a hardware store a while back.  I used a 5" piece and it worked just fine.  It is a lot simpler than my way for sure.

This morning I decided to see if a sharp point would work better.  I cut off a nail and drove it into the tube.  It works great.
