Poison Adrena 7' Heavy SB Question

Featured Replies

Picked up this rod on sale for $199. It's rated up to 2oz, but it def doesn't feel like a heavy. It seems to have a lot of flex which I guess is bc it's a swimbait rod. I was hoping I could use it for other techniques. Does ANYBODY have any experience with this rod??? I put my Met mgl hg on it, but I don't know if that's what that rod needs.

I would think that would be an ideal rod bigger reaction baits. Something like hard and soft body swimbaits, bigger spooks and whopper ploppers, larger chatterbaits and spinnerbaits, as well as big swimjigs and medium sized cranks. I would probably fish it with baits from 1/2 oz to 1.5 ounces. It wouldn't be a great choice for jigs or plastics.

Give it a shot with some of the above baits and see how it works for you. If you have no desire to keep the rod after using it for a bit and can keep the rod in great condition I am sure you could sell it for pretty close to what you paid for it.

Not familiar with this rod and read a TT report to understand what you have. TT was very high on the quality, light weight and performance of the MH they tested. Based on the specs of the Heavy rating to 2 oz, the rod should be good for swimbaits up to 1 1/2 oz or hollow and soft bodies 5"-7" total weight between 1/2 oz to 1 1/2 oz.

No experience, but seems like it's way too short for a swimbait rod..

Yeah, pretty soft for a Heavy. Feels like a MH with mod-fast taper. I really like the rod, just probably for most reaction baits.
