E6X 822S DSR

Featured Replies

I'm  looking to replace my spinning rod and I have my eyes set on a rod in the E6X lineup. I know this rod is a dropshot specific rod, but how does it work for other applications? I want to be able to throw wacky rigs and light Texas rigs. I realize they make the 842S SJR which is probably designed for more of an all around spinning rod, but I'd prefer the 6'10" since I am planning on purchasing a fishing kayak soon and from what I understand the couple inches shorter may make the rod easier to use on the kayak. What are your thoughts?

I had that same rod when they had a DS-specific line (allegedly between the Mossyback and IMX blanks) and it did well with pretty much all light wire single hook finesse baits. I think you'd be very happy with it, but you may also want to take a look at the 802s if you'll be throwing non-DS finesse rigs more than DS.

Less money and a excellent finesse spinning rod is Don Iovino MajorCraft rod. I have 2 of these rods and use them for all my finesse spinning applications.

one thing to be aware of is none of the Loomis drop shot rods have hook keepers. I have read some reviews that love the DS E6X rod but wish it had a built in hook keeper.
