  1. there is a post on Facebook just yesterday about a physix reel seat becoming loose so it twists. Really sad because I though SC had fixed all of the reel seat issues they had from prior lines like the BassX etc. They need to change their adhesive it still isn't working!
  2. I wonder if they are made by SeaGuide for SC. SeaGuide reel seats are the worst and unfortunately, SC uses SeaGuide reel seats on a few of their lineups like the trout series etc.
  3. So back in the late 97 when i started to get hardcore into fishing I hadn't learned how to use a baitcasting reel yet. So I got a 7 foot MH spinning rod with a Stradic 4000 and used 12 pound Berkeley trilene and did very well. It can definitely be done. Believe it or not 12 pound mono casts and works great on a 4000 or 5000 size shimano as long as you are throwing 3/8 or 1/2 oz and up lures.
  4. this still holds true in 2026, some bass anglers act like mono will break if you even fart next to your reel
  5. Its a shame because there was a time when the Original SC Avids with the full cork and alconite guides were THE BEST bang for the buck in a premium rod in the industry. There was none better dollar for dollar. Those days are long gone unfortunately.
  6. G. Loomis just came out with a 7 foot imx pro BFS rod that definitely would be worth looking into as all the other imx pro rods are great.
  7. just one a curado 200i PG which is 5.5:1and its perfect for all around use. I know its designed for cranking but I use it for everything. its not too fast.
  8. Interesting. I upgraded a Nasci 1000 to a stradic 1000 last summer and the difference is night and day. The stradic is smoother, casts farther, has smoother drag, better line lay, has the one piece bail arm and anti twist fin and feels way more solid when cranking (perhaps due to the one piece handle?). Not that the nasci was bad, its just that the stradic makes it feel "cheapish" if that makes sense. I'm surprised the stradic doesn't do the same with the miravel but I guess the lower start up inertia from the lighter material makes a difference.
  9. sure if you want to keep dealing with more broken St. Croix rods :) I'm sure the warranty is great. But the point is that it would be better if you didn't have to use the warranty so often in the first place, ie that they didn't keep making rods that break so easily like their post pandemic offerings seem to. That's the point. St. Croix has been around for about 60 years, I'm sure they will fix the issues with their rods, but they better do it quickly, their reputation is taking a hit big time.
  10. d**n it. Get a G. Loomis imx pro or better and never look back. You'll be glad you did. St. Croix really needs to fix their rods. ugh.
  11. not sure, but is the line stacking when you fish it? reason I ask is I have a stradic FK that bunches line up when you spool it, but on the water (I guess under load) it winds it in dead evenly.
  12. What about the new G. Loomis imx pro BFS rod? its 7 foot light power fast action. Looks sweeet!
  13. I have the 892 in E6X and that extra length (7'5) really helps with casting distance. Food for thought.
