Some of you may recall me asking all these questions about my 1975 Lund trihull. Well, I've spent the past 2 months restoring it and here are some pics:

My 1974 15 foot aluminum Lund has a similar shade of goshawful yellow.  Here is a pic from about a year before we got it.  When we got it, it had been sitting under some sappy trees that dropped leaves sticks etc. in it.

We built a new trailer from scratch, gutted it, and right now it has a new deck and foam and consoles are mostly built and are waiting for installation.  Also has a 1971 50 horse Johnson hanging on the back.  What color do you think we should paint it?  The interior is gonna be a gray, as that is the color of the TUFF COAT we put over the deck.  We figured it looked better having the same color all through the interior.

Great looking job, do you have any recommended books on restoration of boats? Currently have a 1989 Sylvan 17 foot alum. hull 70 hp. mariner that I bought to restore completely and looking for books on subject.

For the trailer, grind off any rust and give it a good sanding to rough up the surface (use a sander where you can or you'll get tennis elbow!)  You want to lay down a primer coat and then a good marine paint.  Outboard motor paint would work or I believe you can use boat topside paint, but ask someone at Westmarine first about that one.  You'll use less paint if you brush it on, but I'd prefer to spray it.  I'd probably change out the bunk carpet while the boat was off the trailer too.  I did that on mine, it's not too difficult.
