Trouble Loading/Bow Stop

Featured Replies

Last year I bought my first fiberglass bass boat, always had trackers, jon's etc. 19' Stratos w/175 Fast Strike.

Sometimes when I load the boat (19' Stratos) the bow stop will jog to the right or left of center. The boat is positioned properly and even a straight on shot, the stop moves left or right. Is it too small maybe, it's only about five inches wide, can I put a larger one on, will this correct this problem or is it "user error".

I can also never seem to get the boat loaded fully to the hook, I always have to to crank it once or twice. Maybe a larger bow stop will correct this too?

Thanks

Sounds like a little to much trailer in the water. Get your bunkes wet then pull out a little further let those bunks do there job.

UMMM I'm thinking maybe it is the other way around, not enough trailer in the water.

Experiment with depths until you can drive your boat on the trailer, let is settle on the bunks, trim up the engine and drive it till the eye makes contact with the front roller or what ever you have on the trailer.

Once you have the magic depth, remember it and do it every time.

I back in till the water is right at the top of the trailer wheel wells. This helps a lot. Yes you can change bow rollers. Also when loading I always throttle up to the bow eye and then leave it in fwd with a little throttle to keep it there while I hook up the winch strap.

First things first, all boat trailers and boats are different as to how deep you put them into the water when you're trailering but regardless, I always back in and soak the bunks down then pull back out till I get to that sweet spot.  That sweet spot varies depending on the steepness of the ramp.  Generally I'm about a foot out from the bow stop when the boat nestles into the bunks.  Before giving it gas, look back and make sure the engine is straight.  Then, give it gas and drive it into the bow stop.
