So today I went out for a couple hours. Went to a lake about 50 acres big.  One side has shallow area with more rocky bottom and silt the right side and middle are weedy read with the right side being deepest. Has a dam on the right side as well with weeds and a stream on two sides.  So the problem I had today was couldn't get any fish! Not even a bite. The water temp was 60 degrees and I live In western New York.  I tried jigs , buzzbait , spinnerbait. Swimjigs. And even real worms.. nothing. We did just have a small storm over night and rained for maybe 4 -5 hours but I thought the overcast sky's and clouds would make for good fishing? Is this bad when he water is colder now when a cold front comes in?

Keep working at it.  As the water cools, and the days grow shorter, you'll find a good, shallow, fall pattern after a couple days of stable weather.  With all the frontal activity recently up here, it's been feast or famine.

Yeah this weekend is supposed to be somewhat sunny for the next 3 days so I'm hoping the warm stable weather makes the bite better .. never fished fall before. Still my first year fishing so didn't know how that worked. I know during summer hot months a good cold front makes the bite great.. apparently not now lol. I'll keep trying though.

your water temp is already down to 60 degrees?

surface temp here  was still 75 when I was out Monday. We are not quite in fall mode yet.

Yeah the lake is small like I said. 50 acres and shallow. Max depth is 15 ft. The past 2ish-3 weeks it's been like 57 during the day and 36-38 at night so it cooled down super fast

I think the coldest night we had was 49 degrees, otherwise it has been 55-60 at night and 75-85 during the day here.

its 83 degrees right now.

Lucky you @Weedwhacker it's been cold here.  This weekend should warm back up in lower to mid 70s though.. hope that helps get the bass moving 

Many times after a good rain and water condition change (temp/clarity) the fish will not bite for a couple days.  They may also be transitioning to their cold water haunts (usually deeper water).
