battery charging question

Featured Replies

Was wondering about charging my starting battery.  I assume it is ok to leave the motor hooked up to the battery while it is charging?  My charger is a 15 amp total 3 bank on board.  Would I be better off installing a battery selector switch  to take everything out of the loop while charging?

its fine to charge with everything hooked up. the onboardcharger is meant to make life easy just plug in your boat and forget it

make sure your key is in the off position thats all. and set you charge cycle at 2 amps. if you can remove the caps and check the level and distilled water if needed.

I have found that it takes longer with everything hooked up as the charge migrates through the entire system and some amps are lost through friction loss if time isn't an issue then by all means leave it all hooked up.
