The only elaztec (Z-man) products I have used are with a Ned rig.  One of my friends gave me a bunch of Z-man stuff, including worms, creatures and flukes.  I noticed that the hook is hard to push through.  Going to try them, but where I fish an open hook invites constant hang up.  Incidently, I have had poor luck with the Ned rig.  I do keep all elastec products in their own binder away from other plastics.  Any input would be welcome.  Do you have trouble setting the hook if texas rigged?  How do you rig these baits?

The only difference I have with them is not using a screw on shakey head, all other uses are the same with rigging is the same as non-elaztec baits. Hookset does not change at all, no issues getting hookups.

Elaztech stuff is very good for open hook style rig but not so much weedless. You cannot easily skin hook like other plastic and if you bury the hook Point too deep you might have a problem setting hook on fish.

I find a hook that work well with Elaztech stuff and also to make it a little more weedless is flipping hook.

The screw still works- try heating up the screw with a cigarette lighter. Zmanz has some great shakey head products.

A tip for using elaztech on a shakey head I learned a while back.  Take a lighter and heat up the coil on the shakey head.  Should screw right on, smooth as butter after that.  Should last you until you lose the whole thing to a snag!

So, do you fish with an exposed hook?  I was thinking of using a hook with a wire weedguard, so the hook is outside the bait.  Sort of like the old Creme worm harness.  I agree with you that it seems like texposing the hook would make it hard to set the hook.

I fish a lot of elaztec worms and Texpose all of them.  I don't have hook set problems.
