new tires/psi ???

Featured Replies

Just put new tires on my trailer and they are a little stronger tire (last ones B class, these C class) It states the cold psi should be 90, the other ones were 60psi. Should I put that much air in them? Seems like a lot, but that is what it says. Thought maybe it was for a bigger load rating, so I wouldn't need to put that much in, but I don't want to wreak the tire if it is under inflated. Also, might it "bounce" around more so if the tires are at that psi because they are so hard and with the weight of the trailer it doesn't really call for a tire of this rating. Thanks

I would first make sure my wheels are rated for 90 psi.

Over inflate and they just wear right in the middle

Under inflate and they run hotter and create more drag.

If you got good tire wear with the other tires at 60 psi, I would still run sixty for starters and then adjust by the way it tows and how they start to wear.

That sounds to me like overkill on the tires. Do you have a heavy boat with 2 or 3 axles? As far as tire pressure goes my tire guy says to always keep them at the rated pressure anything less does not let the sidewalls stand up as they were designed to.

No, my boat is not that heavy. These tires are more heavy duty than the last ones. They were 4 ply/B class and these are 6ply/c class. So they are really more than what I needed, but got them at a good price.
