I've had my grandpas late 90's Curado CU-201 for years and have used it on and off and I want to put it back into my line up but with some, both performance and appearance upgrades. I already purchased a new carbontex drag and ABEC 7 bearings for it but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some appearance mods for it?

I've been on https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/user_data/2.php website but I'm not sure if they even have the right parts for that model and am hesitant to buy without knowing for sure. All I really want to upgrade is the cast control knob from the old plastic one to a new metal one and the same goes for the handle knobs and star drag. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I were you I would try and contact hawgtech. They sell abec7 bearings and handles and could certainly help point you in the right direction.

Pretty sure 92 Metanium XT parts on Hedgehog will work.  Handle knobs on Curado 201 are riveted so a handle swap would be necessary.  Lots of options there. Check out Dad's Ole Tackle online.  Might save you a bunch of $$ and they would have answers about fit on the cast control knob.

 

Edit:  One thing that I remembered after posting this is that any handle change will lose your drag adjustment click.  It's built into the stock handle nut retainer.  I'm not sure if there's a combination drag star/click pin&spring/click plate that will fit. Won't hurt the drag adjustment, just no click.

some parts are tough to find for these reels. I had a tough time finding a pinion gear for one of my 201 bsf. 

As for upgrading the cast control cap to metal... I'm not 100 % sure but I think that the metal cap from a 200 bsf might work in a cu 200. 

Ebay has some used ones/caps on sale with the spring.

did this a while back on my 101B and i think i got some parts from avail for the drag star and spool tension cap replacements.  if you want a sweet aftermarket handle for them, check out hawgtech handles.
