what is the best kind of paint to use?

I like aluminum L angle but then I also like welding every thing together   ;)

2x4's add a ton of weight, any option you have will likely be a better choice.

3/8 or 1/2 in is plenty as long as it is braced properly

I use Interlux yacht paints.  Not cheap but second to none.

I use 2x2's with Simpson Strong tie Brackets. It saves a ton of weight and if you use 3/8in ply it will hold up a truck. Check out the sticky at the top. It might give you some ideas.

fluke i got done looking through your project and i very impressed thats a good lookin rig you made.

I think im going to have to go with the 2x2 and strong ties, it fits my skills the best. I'm gonna get my pics up pretty soon so be ready
