Need a precision oiler for Shimano ultralight reels

Featured Replies

My smaller Shimano Sedona and Sahara reels haven't been used for several years and I want to give a few easy-to-reach bearings a very small drop of Shimano reel oil. The oil I have is in one of those small, free blue Shimano tubes but it has a fairly blunt tip that isn't precise. Is there a cheap but effective precision oiler I can transfer my Shimano oil to?

Just type in "precision oiler" in your go to online ordering site and pick one that you think you will like (also check reviews).  You should be able to get something under 10 bucks.

One of those things I sometimes want but have never gotten around to getting. If I want to add a very small amount of oil without breaking down a reel I just use a tooth pick or safety pin, stick the tip in the oil and place the small "ball" in the little race way or whatever nook/cranny . Just keep gravity in mind.

I also do it with spool bearings after flushing, lot easier to control how much than with an oiler. Lay them out, squirt a tiny blob on a cutting board beside the bearings. Redip as needed. The bearing will throw a lot of the excess oil on its own though if u go too far, just get the viscosity  of lube right.

Go to an Orvis and buy their fly glue application bottle.  A very small plastic bottle with a needle applicator, which is the smallest I have ever found.  I mean it is a really tiny needle opening. Much smaller than a gun needle oiler.
