Using body filler

Featured Replies

After getting paint off my aluminum boat there are some dents and creases I would like to smooth out before I alodine, prime and paint.  Can I just use normal bondo body filler? I also have some devcon aluminum putty  which has the consistency of bondo that I can use if that would be better.  I guess I am worried about the filler popping off with the flex of the boat.  I will be painting the boat with a 2 part epoxy primer with a polyurethane aircraft paint if it matters.

kb here    use the same filler as you would on your  auto for your boat    but be sure it is the water proof kind   and  dont fill  a dent deeper than a1/4 "   you might be better off useing the yellow primer for aluminum oxide then prime and paint with any kind of paint you want  i cant remember the filler to use but if you want i will go out to the shop and get the brand and #    but DO NOT  use the bondo brand  kb.   let me know

Devcon by Permatex® is what we use in the Aerospace industry its ISO 9001:2000 certified & meet or exceeds Mil Spec DOD-C-24176B (SH) Type II.

Zinc Chromate Aluminum primer can be yellow or green  ;)

kb here   that was what i ment  the yellow  zink chromate  for aluminum   then i would usa a two stage   non sanding primer and paint with a acrylic enamel   kb
