I was wondering if anyone has used a hydrofoil for a 9.9 hp motor.  My 14 ft boat has a terrible time getting on plane and then it begins to porpoise very badly.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Name of hydrofoil would be helpful.

my 14 V w/ 9.9 used to poirpose with just me on it when i was at slower speeds ... but i just put the trim ALL the way down on my motor and it doesn't do it n e more... and it gets on a plane easier

It will help getting one. They sell 'em at the basspro for the smaller motors. You'll hafta drill four holes and bolt it on.  Sting Ray XP Junior cost you 50 bucks plus shipping.

my 14 foot starcraft with a 15 merc will not plane without them. I bought the dolefinns, best thing I bought. well worth the $30 or so $$$

i dont know on a small motor but iknow that it made a huge difference on my 125  on my 22ft pontoon  that was the best 65 dollars i spent on that boat  it completly  fixed bow lift  know it rides nice and level   also  2mile an hour faster

Does putting on a hydrofoil void the motor warranty?

warranty is something not be taken lightly i would defently check with manufacturer   about that   mine is old so it did not matter

Mine is an old 9.9 and has it. Changing the pin position helps with cavitation a bunch. I imagine it could help with planing as well.

yes, most if not all I know of do, but sometimes that is not enough and the motor just need some lift and the hydro's do that. Like I said on my 14 footer with a 15merc it just wouldn't plane. set the motor all the way down and it would plow through the water set it a spot higher and it would stick the bow straight up. there was no good spot. However, after putting the hydros on it it would plane out very easy at different pin hights. Since the boat will plane out now I could set the motor at a higher trim spot so I could get some more speed out of it.

Sometimes the trim angle of the motor is all it need sometimes its not. my 17'6" the hydros did nothing to it. It planed just the same
