Bilge pump

Featured Replies

OK..guys, I am fairly new at this so please try to be patient, I have a sprint bass boat thatwas filled with water from the last heavy rain storm we had. The bilage pump did not do the job. I have checked the fuses, each time I put a 5amp fuse in the slot for the b/pump it blows....so I thought I would just replace the pump and keep things simple, problem is I can't find where the b/pump is? I thought it would be at the back close tot he batteries but its' not there. Can someone give me some idea what to start taking apart, or should I take the boat to a professional repair person? THANKS........Gwen

Try looking forward a couple of feet.  Mine is not directly in the back.  It sounds like you have a wiring problem or a fried pump.

On my boat, a couple of the batteries sit on a panel that is bolted down. My bilge pumps and livewell aerators are underneath that panel out of plain view. I have to unscrew the panel to get to them.  It's worth taking a look for a similar panel if you're not familiar with your boat.

Good luck!

I don't know squat about Sprint boats, but I do know that bilge pumps are located near the lowest point of the boat.  This is almost always near the stern.  My speculation is that the pump picked up a piece of debris that locked the pump up and caused it to burn out.  Find the pump and replace it.  Bilge pumps are prone to failure, so I would be very surprised If it wasn't readily accessible.
