Fast or moderate fast tip?

Featured Replies

Which tip do you prefer for fishing frogs in heavy cover? F or Modrate Fast? Also MH or Heavy powered rod?

I like them fast, with a rock solid backbone and a light tip. Depend on the company for what model that is, with dobyns its a magnum heavy.

Heavy/fast but not a pool cue.

For me, you gotta have heavy and fast. You need to be able to get the fish's head out of the cover as fast as you can. Especially if it's thick cover. I have been wondering whether to get an extra fast tip, but I think fast is the best. You want to set the hook as fast as possible. With extra fast, you run the risk of pull the frog out of the fish's mouth, but a moderate action might be too slow to pull the frog out of cover. Hence fast action.

Irod Fred's Magic Stick in the Genesis 2 is a Heavy  fast/moderate. I would say it's a fast. I just picked up the Air 754 and it's a Heavy Fast. The Air will get some time frogging this year.

But what about a Veritas from Abu Garcia? Some think that a MH Abu fishes like everyone else’s Heavy
