Hello all,

 

im having the hardest time deciding what I want to use this rod for. It’s a Kistler helium LTA MH fast action 7’ rod rated for 1/8-3/4oz lures. I’m going to pair it up with either a diawa zillion sv tws or a Shimano Chronarch MGL.

First and foremost any and all bottom contact presentations. 

But you can use it for most anything...spinnerbaits, swim jigs etc.

I bought it due to the wicked deal I got on it. I also have a dobyns Sierra 734c and figured they were close to the same purpose rod. I was thinking of maybe trying small swim bates, skipping light jigs, Chatterbait, weightless senko’s and maybe light t-rigs. Thought maybe the dobyns for spinner baits, football head jigs, throwing jigs around light cover, heavier Chatterbait.

Thank you everyone, I’m really excited about this rod! If feels great in the hands, I believe I’ll probsbly throw the zillion on it for skipping jigs, and maybe pick up the Chronarch for the dobyns 

I don't know about weightless as that fast tip on a Kistler doesn't have a lot of flex for tossing the light stuff. Great rod for almost any bottom contact presentation. Excellent choice for C-rigs and 1/2oz. football jigs.

Oh yea, if you can't decide, I'll buy it off you for what you paid plus shipping.

i like that setup for the huddelston shad bait.  The minnow i run on a medium but the MHF is great for that shad.  Also consider the small trash fish and hollow body baits like bastrix or yum money minnow.

So the lure ratings aren’t true?  1/8-3/4 oz?  Good to know.

     I have this same rod and it is excellent for multiple presentations. As others stated excellent for bottom contact baits.  It is very sensitive. I also use it to throw "larger not huge" 5" & 6" weightless (weightless swim baits probably weighing between a 1/4 and 1/2 oz). Does very well with swim jig and underspins too!  Normally spooled with 12#-16# flourocarbon.

What is a bottom contact bait you would recommend trying?

Pretty much anything without a treble hook aside from gigantic baits.

I have a couple LTX MH rods and love them.  Always hoped to come across a deal on the LTA. Congratulation!!  If possible try the different reels on the LTA to see which are most comfortable and balanced for you.

Bottom contact baits are Texas rigged worm, craw or creature bait. Another would be a jig/w trailer or shakey head worm. Carolina rig too.

Thank you sir, I figured might of needed a little heavier rod for Carolina rig

never held one but they sound like a great t-rig or finesse jig rod/skipping rod.

I have several rods with same specs (different make) and use them for everything under the sun from weightless plastics, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, swimbaits and jigs. Different reels on them of course with lines including 10, 12, 14, 17 and 20lb mono; and 10, 12, and 15lb Flouro.
