I have it narrowed down to these two. Which of these would you go with for frogging and small swimbaits.

 

Daiwa Tatula 7'4" TAT741HFB

 

Dobyn's Fury 735C

 

I have a bunch of Amazon points to cash in, and these are both available there. 

 

I have that Tat rod and I can't imagine a BETTER froggin rod.  Not saying the Dobyn's isn't better but that Tat rod is the shiznizzy.  I would be willing to bet you could find a LOT cheaper than on Amazon though.  Even with points.  You could get the Tat elsewhere, buy the Dobyns with your points and sell the one you like least or just have 2 great rods

 

 

Actually...I just looked up the Tat rod on Amazon and see it's on sale.  That's a pretty good price

 

And now I looked up the Dob.  You will never convince me that Dob is over a hundred bucks better.  I'm sure it's a nice rod but THAT much better?  I just can't see how......

I'm not sure what rods you're looking at. The Tatula is $119 & the Dobyns is $110.

Well...I guess others will have to weigh in.  Hopefully someone has both.  I DO love my Tat froggin rod, though, and a few others on here are pretty passionate about that rod.  It will absolutely LAUNCH a frog and it has the backbone to drag em outta the slop.  Plus, it's very light and just a pleasure to throw all day.  I do a LOT of froggin in heavy slop and this rod is amazing.  ESPECIALLY for the price..but do hear about the Dobyn's too

Man this is tough. I can't find a bad review on either one. I like the lifetime warranty on the Dobyns, but that Tatula just looks awesome.  

Tatula is also a great heavy jig rod. Cant go wrong with it. Local shop has the Tatula elite frog rod, oh baby...what a sweet rod

I narrowed down to 3 rods, being these 2 you mention and the Irod Genesis 2 Fred's magic stick.   I went with the Magic Stick, because I wanted the larger lure range 1/2-2oz of it or the Daiwa Tatula over the 1/4-1 1/2oz of the Dobyns.  I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices, but if you'll be using swimbaits too in the 1-1.5 oz range, things like Whopper plopper 130, etc...The Tatula will probably be more versatile for you.

I've since gotten a Dobyns fury 735c on sale for $88, but haven't tested it out yet...

Would the Dobyns Fury 765 Flip fit into this discussion? 

 

Edit: NM, just talked to the guys at Dobyns. They don't recommend this rod for frogging. 

I love my 7'2" HF Tatula for jigging, and I plan to get the 7'4" at some point to replace my current frogging rod. That said I don't think you could go wrong with either. 

They are all good. I would go with Fred's Magic Stick by iRod.

The Tatula frogging rod will be added to my collection in the future. I have two other Tatula rods and have been very happy with both of them, but I often hear the frogging rod is the best of the lineup.

My vote goes to the 735C.
