New Daiwa reel?

Looks like a diawa. Pretty cool looking to:P

Those look like great pitching reels. I'll probably get a few.

Under 7 ounces and no T Wing? Can it be???. I was hoping aluminum frame but at that price I figured that would be asking a bit much.

Wonder if the "cg" could be something like composite graphite?

Maybe a competitor for the Shimano Casitas.

When I Google it, the only site that comes up is the American Legacy link above - not even Diawa's own website.  Google sees no other reference to it.

Maybe a competitor for the Shimano Casitas.

Description says carbon graphite frame and side plate.

Edit:  Note on website says "Available May 2018"

That site has the CT type R with 7.3:1 ratio and right hand retrieve for $119 - $60 off their price for the rest of the line.  I haven't researched, but that sounds like a good price to me.

Thanks. I didn't scroll down far enough in the link to see the full description.

Other than the handle, nothing looks very Daiwa like about that reel. Even the gear ratio is not a Daiwa one. Suspect a bit of jiggery pokerey!

Interesting. Can't find any info on this otherwise. You'd think they would've been showing off a new reel like this at the classic?

Just called Daiwa. Woman on the phone wasn't even aware it existed. It pulled up in their system, though. Info  is limited; you need to e-mail Daiwa.  jj

Not a fan of the knob caps Daiwa is using on newer reels (this one included), seems like they would get full of dirt easily

A Fuego CT has more ratios, Aluminum Frame, CT spool (can get an SV spool for it) and is an Oz more in weight for $65 on the regular.  Why was this reel needed?  That all sounded rather angry... but all they have done is make a plastic Fuego.

Guys.. it's burnt orange. They have to compete with the you know who Z. Case closed.

Might as well get the Fuego if ur gonna buy one of these.

Apparently was at the classic.

I will save my judgement.  If it provides something useful and ebay/amazon marks them down then they could be a nice little reel

I saw that reel at the classic. I wasn't super impressed, it reminded me of a rebadged lew's or abu. But, it is a daiwa, and their reputation is strong. Time will tell!

Did you play around with it?

I hope the reel isn't a rebadged Doyo reel.  I got my Fuego CT from Cabela's a few weeks ago for $69 and that reel is awesome.  I am sure these will be had for under $50 eventually but hope they are made in house by Daiwa and not outsourced to some OEM.

I did. It felt solid, but definitely less so than the aluminum framed offerings from Daiwa. Turning the handle resulted in a good feeling of meshed gearing. Not overly smooth, but not bad at all, especially at the price point they’ll be sold at. It’s not a reel I think I’ll own, but as I previously stated, Daiwa is well known for providing a great product. If I were to guess, I’d say this reel will not break that trend.

Curious to hear more about this in following months, does really resemble a lews
