Too many rod configurations

Featured Replies

Hey boys, new here.

I'm just getting back into fishing after 10 years. Rods, reels and lures have changed so much. I'm looking for a meadium heavy rod, with a 20-25 lb line that I can use for Texas Rigging. But, I am new to this "mumbo-jumbo". I understand it know after doing hours and hours of research, but I can't find the rod that I want. I'm looking for something in the 7'-7'3" range spending no more than $100.00. if I can get away with a lighter line to catch double digits bass, let me know.

FR 735C would be closer to what the OP is referencing using 20-25 lb line doesn't relate to any MH rod I am aware of.

I'd go heavy for that line size. for what it's worth, I've always Texas rigged with a MH rod and 15lb line and have never felt like I needed heavier line.. unless your punching mats 15-17lb is plenty

He did say medium heavy. The 735 is rated for the lines he mentioned but it's a Mag Heavy rod. He also asked about lighter line. I'd go the 734 with a lighter line within the rods rating.

For the no-tournament angler you can go nuts thinking you need a different rod for every technique.  With the exception of a couple I have, all the rest are MH, or Medium and all the same make, Carbonlites.  I think they are on sale now for $100.

Catt is currently using Powell Inferno MH fast and recommends  it for jig and worms and believe the rod is in your price point.
