LineX on Boat Bow

Featured Replies

With the water levels being as low as they are in the local lakes and down to 2 or 3 boat ramps per lake the floating docks that are left and still usable are really low and the boat no longer brushes up against them with the rubber bumper around the side.  So I have gotten a few nicks and scratches in the hull up front.  I was wondering if anyone has had LineX applied from say the bow hook up to the rubber bumper to keep scratched and nicks to a minimum.  Does it stick to the boat?  Do they have to do any crazy preparation to the boat hull to get it to stick (like they do a truck bed)?  Thanks for replies in advance.

I think I'd rather see a few scratches than see linex there.  Think about it.

How are you setting up the bumpers?

Are you tying with a spring line?

Well I thought the Linex might be a good idea since they can now match the color.  I am not currently using removable bumpers because I didn't think it would be necessary with rubber strip running the whole length of the boat, but that was before are lakes dropped 12-15 below full pool and the floating docks are on the verge of being completely out of the water.  Many of the docks are impossible to pull along side them now and you can only get the bow up to them to get on and off.  I am tying with a spring line where I can.

If you have a nice boat, don't rely on just the rub rail!!  Ranger makes some nice, low profile, stowable bumpers.  Might be something to look into carrying when the water gets below a certain level.

Linex seems like a permanent solution to a temporary problem. The water levels will likely return to normal...and then you have linex ( which will likely hurt resale value) on your boat.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but isnt LineX kinda bumpy texture I think it would be hard to keep clean and might affect the performane and it might add a little weight maybe not much though.
