spots in key west

You can rent a boat and head out to the reef if the wind isn't too bad. From shore, the spots in KW proper are surprisingly limited, most of the water around the island is very shallow or restricted. The jetty on the tip of the Fort Zachary park is a good spot. If you can hit it on a good tide at sun up it can be exceptional. If you drive North (East) a bit you can hit one of the bridges, which can be good at times. Some were under construction and off limits last time we were there, but that may have changed by now. I like the No name bridge on BP, you can keep your rod bent with smallish fish, and a cuda, tarpon or shark are always a possibility, specially at dusk/night. Just don't leave rods unattended.
