Who do you use for Boat insurance and are you happy with the service?

I have been using progressive because they were the cheapest for me on my last boat but  :( :( New boat is over two times the amount for the year (600).  Does a bass boat with a 225 just cost that much more than fish and ski with a 200 to insure? Boat values arent the far off at replacement cost. Tried my homeowners but they were even worse.  :'( Never had a claim on anything before.

That is all part of the toy business.  I have State Farm and it costs a bunch but the boat is insured for a bunch.

Try a search on insurance in this section, it gets talked about a couple times per year.  I remember there were a couple past threads with a lot of good info.

I am with State Farm now, I was with Farmers- but for a time they quit writing boats so I switched.  Back when I shopped it around, they (State Farm) were very competitive.  I can't comment on the claims service these days.

I was with Progressive, but switched to Allstate. They have my truck and house so it was much cheaper. Went from almost $700 to less than $400

Anglers Advantage Ins. They cover my boat, rods reels, depth finders and 300,000 liabilty for around $400 bucks.

Think I am going to go with Boat US. They had some great angler/bass boat  policies at a good rate. I see there tugs and tow boats a lot of Saginaw bay and St.Clair which is nice.

The smartest thing I did after getting out of the service was get an account with USAA. They are the best bank to deal with. Consumer Reports rates them the highest in customer satisfaction every year. I have my boat insurance with them. They outsource with Progressive but have a deal with them to keep prices low.

I have Progressive.... $291 for $26,000 worth of coverage for the boat and 3000 for gear. Thankfully, I haven't had to test them.

I have Nationwide Insurance for my boat, but I only have Liability on it because it isn't a expensive boat.  But I'm thinking of upgrading the plan to cover the electronics and fishing gear.  But for just the Liability it is $21.25 a month for my 16ft 1972 bass boat.  It might be better if my road driving record was better, but I don't see my road record as anything to do with my water driving because I drive fast on land but my boat only goes 21 mph so I could speed if I wanted to. I'm also more careful on the water then on land.

My Dad has State Farm and I think he pays about $20 a mouth for his 21ft cuddy cabin.

I had State Farm and switched to Farm Bureau several years ago, vehicles, home and boats. I have a 20' Champion w/225 Yamaha. The standard policy only allows for $1000 for contents so I purchased a rider to cover $10,000 for contents( rods, reels, GPS, depthfinders and other equipment). I pay a little less than $400 annually. They will not cover a trolling motor unless it is locked in a rod locker, mounted on the boat not covered ( I carry a spare on trips ).....................Al

kb here   i have state farm   get a real good price  but have my home , business, health, truck, car boat. about everything   i think the agent has a lot to due with the service.  i had a bodyshop  for 35 years in my home town  of about 5,000 people and would guess 60% are with state farm   kb    never had any problem with claims. allways could work them out   and i cant say that about other co.   here  where i live  allstate  is terrible   other places they are good.  like i said it has a lot to due with agent   kb

I tried a local state farm for the house(house is high with everyone, I am told due to being a long ways from a FD?) and vehicles they quoted about the same as what I have now, but for the boat they wanted near 900. Progressive has always been the cheapest for me by hundreds on vehicle insurance but then again I have never had to file a claim with them which I hear can be a nightmare.
