Shimano Calcutta 150

Featured Replies

I have recently bought the older model Shimano Calcutta 150, and was wondering if I could use it for big swimbaits for LMB

Define big. I use a 200 for one to three oz. stuff.  A 150 would be pushing it.

I have one, i guess you could say its technically pushing it but mine has never had a problem. Only problem is sometimes i wish i had a little more line. For hudds i use a lews superduty and its never had a problem either. Last year i was on the water and forgot my swimbait rod. I used my punching rod for a hudd and my shimano curado did awesome

Line capacity is the only reason I think it's pushing it.

As others have mentioned, it depend on how large the swimbaits. Best way to find out,is to give it a good try. Youll know wether you need more line capacity. Also it will depend on what size, type of line you use. They are well built reels.
