How to find my reels bearings size?

Featured Replies

I recently purchased the Quantum Smoke S3 PT. I wanted to buy ceramic bearings for it and keep the factory made ones. The only problem is that I don't know how to find their dimensions. I found the schematics in the box but it doesn't mention their size.

You could try looking on Quantum's website to see if they have a more advanced schematic available.

Boca’s website might have the info if they carry bearings for that reel. If not you’ll need a set of calipers to measure them. Inside diameter - outside diameter - width.

So for example Shimano commonly uses a 3x10x4 bearing for the spool.

take a metric ruler or digital caliper and measure them. they aren't hard to take out. if you're gonna get new ones you need to learn how to do it anyways. tight lines.

Off topic here, but how do you like the S3? I've seen them in stores, they feel pretty nice

Farthest casting smoothest reel I own by far. Super easy to tune.

Send it to Mike at Delaware Valley Tackle.... he’ll take good care of you and it’ll be a painless upgrade.

Any retailer of quality bearings can tell you the size you need based on your reel model.
